Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Talkhawk, the dictation app for Windows, and Talkhawk Pro. Talkhawk is made by Dusan Jolovic, an independent developer in Serbia ("we"). By installing or using Talkhawk you accept these terms.

Using Talkhawk

You may install Talkhawk on your own PCs and use it for personal or work purposes. Dictation is free, with no word limit and no time limit.

You must be at least 16 to use Talkhawk.

Acceptable use

Don't use Polish or Command Mode to create sexually explicit or pornographic content, anything that sexualizes minors, content that harasses or threatens a person, or anything unlawful. Talkhawk's server tells the AI model to refuse requests for sexually explicit content.

Please also don't resell Talkhawk or access to it, automate requests to Talkhawk's server or work around its limits. We may disable a license key that is used in any of these ways.

The free trial

The first time you open Talkhawk, Pro is free for 14 days. The trial needs no payment details and no account. There is one trial per PC, and it ends by itself; nothing is charged when it does.

During the trial, Polish and Command Mode work up to 300 times a day, counted in UTC. Past that they pause until the next day, and dictation keeps working.

Pro subscriptions

Pro costs $9 a month, or $72 a year. Creem sells it as the merchant of record: Creem takes the payment, adds any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live, and sends your license key by email. The price at checkout is the price you pay.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. Cancel any time by writing to support@talkhawk.app; you won't be charged again.

A license key can be active on a limited number of PCs at once. Remove it from one PC in Settings to use it on another.

If we change the price, the new price applies from a renewal after we announce it, never to a period you have already paid for.

Refunds

If Pro doesn't work for you, write to support@talkhawk.app within 14 days of a payment and you get that payment back in full. Creem processes the refund. This doesn't limit any refund right the law in your country gives you.

When Talkhawk changes or ends

We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop offering Talkhawk or Pro. If Pro ends while you still have paid time left, you get a refund for the unused part.

Your text

What you dictate is yours. We don't claim any rights to it. When you use Polish or Command Mode, the text is processed only to return your rewrite; the privacy policy describes how.

You are responsible for what you dictate and send, including text that Polish or Command Mode rewrote. If you use Talkhawk for your business and that use breaks the law or these terms, you cover the claims and costs that result for us.

How Talkhawk works, and its limits

Speech recognition runs on your PC and keeps working offline. Polish and Command Mode depend on Talkhawk's server, on OpenRouter and on the company that runs the AI model, so they can be slow or unavailable; when they are, Talkhawk pastes what you said as you said it.

Speech recognition and AI rewrites make mistakes. Check important text, such as numbers, names and anything legal or medical, before you send it. Don't rely on Talkhawk's text without checking it where a wrong word could hurt someone, such as in an emergency or in medical care.

Talkhawk is provided as it is, without promises that it fits a particular purpose or never fails. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost business, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law in your country gives you and that cannot be waived.

Your license

Talkhawk is licensed to you, not sold. The app, its name and its design belong to us, except the parts others license to us, such as the speech model below. Don't copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer Talkhawk, except where the law allows it.

Talkhawk uses NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3, licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Changes and contact

When these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Changes don't apply to a period you have already paid for. These terms are governed by the laws of Serbia, without taking away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Talkhawk. We may transfer them to whoever takes over Talkhawk; your rights stay the same.
