Talkhawk

Privacy policy

Last updated October 25, 2026.

Your voice never leaves your PC. Talkhawk records and recognizes speech on your computer and never saves the audio. Text leaves your PC only when you use Polish or Command Mode, and only to turn it into the rewrite you asked for.

Who is responsible

Talkhawk is made by Dusan Jolovic, an independent developer in Serbia, who is responsible for the data described here. Write to support@talkhawk.app with any question or request about it.

What stays on your PC

These files are in your Windows user profile, and uninstalling Talkhawk removes them.

To paste, Talkhawk puts the text on the clipboard for a moment and then puts back what you had copied. Command Mode copies the text you selected so it can read it.

What Talkhawk sends, and when

Polish and Command Mode

When Polish is on and you have Pro or the trial, each dictation sends this to Talkhawk's server: the transcribed text, the name of the app you are dictating into (such as "slack"), your words list, the tone and language you chose, and your license key or trial token. Command Mode sends what you said and the text you selected.

The server checks the license or trial, then sends the text through OpenRouter to a DeepSeek AI model run by Fireworks, DeepInfra or Cloudflare, whichever answers fastest, and returns the rewrite. Every request is limited to hosts that OpenRouter lists as zero data retention: they store none of the text. OpenRouter itself records the time, model and size of each request, not the text, and Talkhawk's server does not store or log it either. These companies may process the text outside your country, including in the United States.

Turn Polish off in Settings and no dictation text leaves your PC.

The free trial

The first time you open Talkhawk without a license, it asks the server for a 14-day trial. It sends a one-way hash of your PC's Windows machine ID, never the ID itself. The server keeps that hash with the time the trial started, so the same PC gets the same trial back after a reinstall. This record is kept for as long as Talkhawk offers trials.

To stop trials being abused, the server also counts, per day, how many times each trial uses Polish and Command Mode and how many new trials each network starts. A network is counted under a keyed hash of its IP address, never the address itself. Both counts are deleted when the following day ends.

Your license

Activating a key sends it, with your PC's name, through Talkhawk's server to Creem, which checks it and records the activation under that name so you can see where your key is in use. Removing the key in Settings frees that activation. While you use Pro, the server confirms with Creem that the license is active and remembers the answer for an hour.

Rate limits

The server counts requests per IP address, license key and trial token to stop abuse. The counts last about a minute.

Payments

Creem sells Talkhawk Pro as the merchant of record. Creem collects your payment details, billing address and email address, handles taxes and sends your license key. Talkhawk never sees your card. Creem shares your name, email address and order details with Talkhawk so it can help with support and refunds. Creem's own privacy policy covers what it does with your information.

This website

talkhawk.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Cloudflare hosts the site and Talkhawk's server and processes IP addresses to deliver them and protect them from attacks.

If you install Talkhawk from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download, updates and any data the Store collects under its own privacy statement.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data Talkhawk holds about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. Write to support@talkhawk.app. Most of it is on your PC, where you can see and delete it yourself. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Talkhawk is not meant for children under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.
